Welcome to EarthquakeTouch, the first app that provides constant updates of worldwide earthquake information and displays it on a high resolution 3D globe. Unlike other earthquake notification systems, the visual elements on the user-friendly interface of EarthquakeTouch immediately allow for greater depth of understanding and potential for research. Earthquakes are displayed as bright sparkling dots on a richly colored globe, making them easy to see and compelling to study. The user can view global earthquake patterns, study earthquake clusters in a chosen region, or even pinpoint a particular earthquake and show the exact location of it’s epicenter on the drop-down map by a simple touch of that earthquake’s information box. Two-finger zooming allows the user to view the data at street level, providing a much greater understanding of location than latitude and longitude alone. Latest 7 days data about earthquake magnitude, location, date, time and depth are fetched every 2 minutes from USGS, providing precise and reliable information. The most recent earthquake activity is shown with a red spinning disc, and users can choose to receive notifications of earthquakes that occur in their area. This app is an invaluable tool for those living near a volcano or near the earth’s major seismic faults, weather reporters, geologists, inner-earth mapping and those interested in seismology.
